Processing Industry Contract Agreements

Residual Operating Standard Update
Sponsored Projects Accounting
OSR has updated Operating Standard 700.4 - Residual Fund Balance to better communicate when and how indirect costs are calculated on residual balances, as well as the criteria for requesting a residual transfer. Continued
Subrecipient Budget Loads for Processing Invoices
Research Administration
Subrecipient budgets are now loaded directly into account codes 569461 (Subcontract C&G Only, calculates indirect costs) or 569486 (Subcontracts greater than $25,000, exempt from indirect costs) which should be used when expensing on subagreements. Continued
Best Practices for Notice of Awards

Chartfield String Tips for Sponsored Projects

Appropriate use of chartfield strings (CFS) for financial transactions in ConnectCarolina is vital for managing, billing and reporting on sponsored research awards. To ensure correct CFS application when expensing on a sponsored project, confirm the details in RAMSeS matches that in InfoPorte. Continued

Dr. Corbie-Smith was recently elected to the National Academy of Medicine. Her research has focused on the methodological, ethical, and practical issues faced by mandated inclusion of minorities in research and the need to address racial disparities in health.

Ask OSR - RAMTracker Transparency

How do I view the status of a proposal or award in RAMSeS?
OSR uses RAMTracker to manage the tasks needed to review, setup and manage awards. To view RAMTrackers, you can search by either the Proposal ID or Project ID.
What do the different Transaction Statuses mean in RAMTracker?
The Transaction Status of a RAMTracker will indicate what step of the award management process that action is in.
Whom do I contact with a question about a RAMTracker?
Contact either the Current Owner or the Sponsored Projects Specialist listed in the RAMTracker.

New Works Pcard Clearing Account & Student Travel
Upon the implementation of Works Pcard application, a new Pcard clearing account (559530) was created as a default account for Pcard transactions if certain conditions are met. Clarification for student travel using Pcards has also been provided.
Security Changes to ConnectCarolina Pages
In order to maintain personnel information such as social security numbers, ITS has changed the number of pages that display this information. If you have any questions about these changes, you can submit a help request at help.unc.edu.
NIH IRB Changes to Reporting of Deviations
NIH has announced that IRB is making revisions to the review process for deviations that do not qualify as 'New Safety Information (NSI)'. If protocol deviations do not qualify as NSI, the summary of the deviations no longer require review. Continued

University Holiday Closure
UNC will close Monday, December 24 and reopen Wednesday, January 2, 2019. The Office of Sponsored Research will be unable to process transactions during this time. If you have any items that will need to be submitted during the closure period, please adhere to the following deadlines:
- Proposals submissions due 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 19
- ConnectCarolina transactions due 5:00pm on Wednesday, December 19
We appreciate everyone's effort in meeting these deadlines and happy winter break!
